Adson delivered an important c£650k phased refurbishment contract at Twining’s Tea Factory in Andover.

Phase 1 involved the extensive renovation of the late Queen Elizabeth II tearoom as well as the demolition of approximately 100 linear meters of Victorian Brickwork load bearing masonry walls within the busy live factory setting.

Our team skilfully installed new concrete pads, structural steel columns and beams to support the roof structure, ensuring a sturdy foundation. The interior was given a complete makeover, with plaster boarding and skim, Gyproc, Whiterock, and new ceilings and metal trims, topped off with a stunning resin floor.

This phase also saw careful installation of new state-of-the-art “Automation Equipment.”

Executing the project in strict phases, we navigated the challenges of working in the heart of a live factory environment with precision and professionalism. Segregation of the works from the factory operations was key, particularly from dust and debris. Strict quality control measures were implemented throughout which were paramount to protect all Twining’s products from contamination.

The safety of all site and factory operatives was always paramount, our team ensured the works areas remained clear, access and egress routes were carefully agreed prior to commencement and careful risk assessments were carried out to any combined areas.

The senior site management team were in constant communication with the client and had daily briefings ensuring programme and progress targets were met and safety and quality standards were always at a high standard. All materials in and out of the working areas passed through the factory floor, which made for a logistically challenging project.
