Adson were entrusted with the 350k contract to deliver a vital assisted living bathroom refurbishment at Friary Meadow Extra Care facility. Friary is a large, 76- unit luxury retirement complex in the heart of Hampshire that has a mixture of over 55s houses, flats and apartments.
To enhance and upgrade the bathrooms of all independent living areas, works included, carefully removing sanitaryware, re-tiling floors, screeding works, and installing new shower trays and shower screens.
As the site remained live with some properties still occupied, the works were carefully planned and executed as part of a phased 7-month delivery programme.
These works required input from an occupational therapist to confirm that the adaptions and adjustments to all bathrooms were in accordance with the required specification.
In all cases, excellent communication and the implementation of strict protective measures were critical for the safety and welfare of the elderly residents, staff, visitors and our operatives.
Due to the nature of the live site environment and vulnerable residents, the works were high risk. Dust, access & egress, distribution and storage of materials and noise were key areas to monitor to deliver the scheme with minimal disruption to residents, staff, visitors and neighbouring properties and businesses.
Friary Meadow, crafted to the highest specifications, was built to meet the ‘extra care’ benchmark for retirement living established by the Department of Health. Adson maintained that same ethos with the delivery of this important and sensitive refurbishment contract that were completed in partnership with Frogmore Estates and Quantum Consultancy.
