Phases 1 & 2 Demolition and Remedial Works

This 48-week programme saw demolition and dismantling of the existing building and extensive remedial works involving demolition and reconstruction of external facades and cleaning up and preparing the site for new development. 

Guildhall Walk is in a busy city centre location, and our priorities have been protecting public safety through measures like dust and noise suppression, securing the site, and carefully coordinating traffic. The Adson team worked extensively with the conservation officer to make this Grade II listed building safe secure and watertight in readiness for phase 3.

Phase 3 Construction, Fit Out & Refurbishment

Phase 3 – Adson are currently on site delivering the latest phase of this important development which is the new build construction of this 61-unit student accommodation block and extensive refurbishment of the existing adjacent building. 

Progress of Block A and Block B have proceeded well in recent months with Block A currently in the superstructure phase, with the following milestones achieved:

  • Concrete slab laid and a tower crane erected.
  • Shell and core work, including the installation of the reinforced concrete (RC) frame, temporary propping, and shear walls.
  • First-floor walls and the second-floor wall slab have been completed.
  • Second-floor walls and the third-floor slab have been completed.
  • Shuttering has started for the third-floor walls.
  • External scaffolding is being put up to support the RC framework.

Block B has seen shuttering removed/struck from the concrete basement roof slab and scabbling render has commenced on the basement walls.
